Can you say gong show?

Our weekend started out OK but it all fell apart when I suggested my husband and I take turns running around the track at our local park while the other one of us watched the kids at the playground. I ran 4k and was pleased with my time but as I was doing the rest of my workout (chasing the kiddies around), I noticed my hubby had stopped mid-lap and from afar, it looked like he was limping :( I immediately grabbed the kids and loaded them into the double buggy and tore off across the field to greet the walking wounded.

Since I didn’t get enough exercise running and it wasn’t looking like he could walk home, I ran to our house pushing 100 pounds in the stroller to pick up the car so I could collect gimpy. Poor guy, he should never of listened to me telling him he should go for a run … “it would make him feel better” I said. Lesson number one, keep my big mouth shut.

Since it was getting late, we didn’t attempt to battle the emergency room Saturday night backlog and opted for a bailey’s and kahlua frap and two tylenols. Gotta love self medicating treatments.

Today we hit the walk in clinic, xray, emergency and pharmacy. Not quite the family Sunday we had lined up. Turns out it looks like he has a fractured foot and bad sprain. I really wish I didn’t encourage (force) him to go on that run.

As if that wasn’t enough to deal with, we decided to take the kids to their first cinema movie: WALL-E. OK, this may not have been the best idea given that my husband is on crutches but we were feeling sorry for ourselves that we didn’t get to do anything fun today so we went anyway. Hope the rest of the movie-goers will forgive us for the havoc we wreaked for the better part of 103 minutes.

It is now close to 1am and I’m busy catching up on emails and work that I didn’t quite get to today (gee I wonder why?). Tomorrow we will get fitted for an aircast and start scheduling some physio appointments. So much for the productivity I had going last week?!

Mommy be tired. Night night.
