Nearly a year after Hopscotch Kids landed at Raspberry Kids, those little non-toxic nail polishes have solidified their place on our shelves as bestsellers and perennial favourites, both in the sunnier months and as giftables as Christmas time. We love the bright and fun colours for kidlet’s finger and toe nails but above all, we love knowing that the formula is 100% non-toxic and water based – totally safe for kids to put their beautifully painted fingers in their mouths (and maybe their painted toes…although we’re assuming that happens less often!). But we always get the same question: how well does the nail polish work?
Hopscotch Kids’ big sister, Scotch Naturals, is made of the exact same formula but with a more sophisticated palette of colours so I personally tend to wear Scotch over Hopscotch. I’m a big nail polish fan but also a nail biter. Needless to say, not a good combination. So I was immediately intrigued by Scotch Naturals. I also veer toward higher quality nail polishes (OPI, Essie, etc.) and have an equally high standard for wear and colour.

When I first tried Scotch Naturals and Hopscotch Kids (like I said, it’s the exact same formula) I was somewhat skeptical. The colours were phenomenal but I wasn’t sure how well it would wear. Both brands come with a helpful “Tips for Great Tips” card and how to prepare your nails for optimal results. The more I used Scotch Naturals, the better the results and the longer the wear. We also just heard that Scotch Naturals has a new base/top coat (which we will add to our next re-order and get up on our site just as soon as possible). All in all, the quality combined with the health benefits was well worth it and I certainly recommend Scotch Naturals (and Hopscotch Kids!) as a great alternative to conventional nail polish.
My last tip, when you go back to conventional nail polish, you have to start from Square One with Scotch Naturals and wear it a few times before it stays on properly.
As for the popularity with kids, my almost-3-year-old cousin asks “can we put on kids nail polish?” every. single. time. she comes to visit.
