I love wooden toys because I hate the waste that plastic toys bring! Wooden toys also seem to last quite a bit longer. I like the Janod toys. My son has a lot of Thomas the Train wooden trains/tracks as well.

Our family much prefer wooden toys to plastics - while obviously a tree had to be cut down to make wooden toys, trees are often cut down to create the energy used to make plastics, which also happen to be made of oil. When the toy eventually goes into the trash, as all toys will ultimately do, wood will not harm the environment or be damaging in landfills. It won't give off ozone-killing, global warming gases the way plastics will. Unpainted wood is an entirely environmentally friendly material. Wooden toys also last much longer and don't make it into the trash until much later than the plastic version, and often are of such a quality that they can be played with for generations.

We love soopsori wooden toys, they are so beautifully made (we have the birthday cake and my kids love it). As for the reason we love wood toys, simply because I try to encourage natural materials as much as possible in our home. I also avoid plastic because I don't trust it to be safe and non-toxic.

I have been trying to reduce the amount of plastic at home for many reasons - just one being that plastic toys can often break when bitten/chewed by my toddler. Wood is natural and renewable, and has that everlasting/ timeless/heirloom and quality sense to it. We love Sevi, Plan Toys and Melissa & Doug especially.
